Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged a home Saturday morning on Big Springs Street.
Just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a call for a report of fire in a home on the 4700 block of Big Springs Street. The occupants were alerted to the fire by installed smoke alarms and were able to evacuate the residence without injury. Upon arrival, The first-arriving crew reported an active fire in the garage of the home. Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack and were able to contain the fire to the garage, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the home. The fire was brought under control within 16 minutes of the first crew’s arrival.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
