The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department, along with City Park Rangers, is closing La Llorona Park immediately due to rising water levels from the Rio Grande.
Recent rain and runoff have caused water levels to increase, creating potentially dangerous and life-threatening conditions in and around the park.
Please stay out of La Llorona Park until further notice and do not attempt to enter or cross areas affected by rising or floodwater.
The park is expected to remain closed through Wednesday, September 30, and will be assessed for safety before reopening. Please avoid rising water and flooded areas. Turn around—don’t risk your safety.
