One person is dead and another injured following a shooting Tuesday evening at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo.
Officials say the base was placed on lockdown around 5:30 p.m. after reports of an active shooter near the base convenience store.
The injured individual was taken for medical treatment, and authorities later confirmed the base is now secure and the lockdown has been lifted.
“Emergency personnel are responding to the situation and there is no threat at this time,” according to a statement from the 49th Wing.
The base convenience store has been closed until further notice.
No names or additional details have been released, and the incident remains under investigation.
